EZ-Link card donation drive in aid of Singapore Leprosy Relief Association Home (SILRA Home)
Issued By: EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Transit Link Pte Ltd
SINGAPORE, 29 July 2005 – The EZ-Link Card Donation Drive will be launched on 31 July 2005, adopting Singapore Leprosy Relief Association Home (SILRA Home) as the beneficiary of the charity drive. The public can drop their spare ez-link cards or used Standard Tickets (single trip MRT cards) into donation boxes located at selected MRT Stations.
This charity drive will be held awareness of the needs of persons suffering from leprosy at SILRA Home, a social service programme supported by the Community Chest for ex-leprosy patients who have been rejected by their families mainly because of their deformities. The Home provides rehabilitative activities such as gardening, fish-rearing, producing handicrafts and weaving of baskets. Social and recreational activities such as tours, outings and year-end parties are also organised with the aim to alleviate the suffering of the residents and make their golden years much more meaningful.
Donation boxes are located at six major MRT stations: Boon Lay, Bugis, Changi Airport, Chinatown, Orchard and Yishun MRT Stations.
EZ-Link and TransitLink, together with SILRA Home, appeal to the public to support the donation drive. CISCO Security will also render their support in this meaningful event.
The last EZ-link Card Donation Drive in July 2004 saw an overwhelming response for the Asian Women’s Welfare Association’s (AWWA) TEACH ME, a social service programme supported by Community Chest.
